So you’re into business and entrepreneurship? That’s great because in this world, we need to have business leaders and entrepreneurs who can make people lives better through their products, solutions and services. However, doing business is not an easy thing to do. There are more businessmen who fail than those who succeed. That is why before you enter into business or continue your entrepreneurship, you’ve got to learn and understand the following ten business secrets every business person must know.
1. You need to become self-oriented to succeed in business
We’ve heard it… most marketing experts say that we need to become customer-oriented to optimize our business. Managers also say that we need to become people-oriented to influence and motivate our workers. Yes, they’re all true. But most of us find these tasks so hard to do. Why it is just so difficult to become dedicated to customers and employees? The answer is because we are not truly dedicated to ourselves. We do not invest more time and effort to find our inner self and our inner peace. We let greed and deceit rule ourselves. To be a customer-oriented and people-oriented business person, you need to become self-oriented.
2. You will likely quit when you are nearing success
One of the top reasons why business people fail is quitting. But I got a secret to tell you – most of them quit without knowing that they are already nearing success. This happens because most of the hardest problems and trials occur when we are already reaching the final round. This is the reason why most entrepreneurs quit on that final stage. To become a successful businessman, simply don’t quit!
3. Not all distractions come in unpleasant forms
We create our business plans; we make them good. We also prepare ourselves to face all the distractions that can ruin those plans. But why there are still many businessmen who fail to stick to their plan, causing them to taste failure? Well, not all distractions come in obvious forms. They often come disguising as sweet opportunities. And because they are engaging and appealing, most entrepreneurs fall into their trap, causing destruction to their focus and consequently to their original plans.
4. Your worst business rival is you
Most business owners are busy spying and defying their business competitors. Alas, they still don’t seem to succeed. Why? It is because they don’t overcome their worst adversaries – themselves! They are busy pulling down their rivals without uplifting their own. They are busy defeating their competitors without defeating their own greediness, fraud and pride.
5. You can already succeed in business even before starting it
People usually think that success is only found at the end of the rainbow. But the truth is… success is made up of little successes, which can be achieved even before we make our first steps. Yes, success begins at the time we choose to succeed. It initializes at the time we choose the right business to start. And the best business to start… is the one which we cannot quit.
6. Real business success grows gradually, but you can always accelerate
Real success cannot be realized overnight. Enduring profits doesn’t sprout rapidly like a grass, but they grow gradually like a tree. They are destinations that must be reached through the right direction, and this direction must be walked by a series of steps. We cannot just jump long over to the finish line or sprint for a long distance for we might be exhausted and run out of gas. However, we can always increase the speed of our walk. But how can we accelerate? We will find lessons and realizations on our way. If we will learn how to use them, we will become stronger and faster than ever.
7. Business and marketing start at the same time
Marketing does not begin at the time we promote our product. It does not even starts at the time we produce our products. Marketing begins when we begin our business in our minds. When we think the name of our business, when we imagine the type of our products, when we visualize our targeted customers, and when we decide to start business – marketing already exists on these moments.
8. Motivating people is not hard if you can motivate yourself first
Managing and leading people are one of the most difficult jobs of a businessman or employer. People are not machines; they have unpredictable emotions, which can make them hard to motivate. But do you know that few people can easily motivate and influence their followers and subordinates? They can do that because they are highly motivated people. They serve by becoming a role model. The secret to motivate others is to motivate yourself first.
9. Making customers happy isn’t difficult if you have happiness within you
Providing quality and value to customers to satisfy them can be sacrificial. You need to invest more cost and time to make that happen. This can result to higher cost and may result to lower profit. And because most company owners want to grab more profit even at the early phase of their business, they ignore the satisfaction and happiness of their customers. Actually… greedy, selfish and discontented business owners can hardly make their customers happy. This is because they don’t have peacefulness, contentment and joy within themselves.
10. Business success can be surely achieved by anyone
You don’t need to gamble in business. Here, success is achieved through calculation, experimentation and precision. Thus, you don’t need to be a good gambler to triumph in business – you need to be a good accountant, mathematician and even a scientist. This is so that you can know the language of business, calculate the risks, and experiment on the probabilities. In business, we don’t bet on the probabilities; we explore probabilities. We test them to know the best. And when we know the best, we choose and value it. Finally, with constant practice, anyone can hit the bull’s eye of business success.
These are secrets, but not anymore. I’ll be glad if you can share them to everyone who has enthusiasm in business. Thank you for reading and have enduring success.

Hi Jessnah,
Thanks for your inspiring comment. You’re also inspiring, considering that you’re already venturing into business, though you’re still at school. With regard to your question, I got my basis on the following:
1. From my years of experience as an accountant / financial auditor of various business industries.
2. From the wisdom, understanding and reflection I got from the Bible (my foundation for righteousness).
3. From other inspiring business mentors (ancient and modern) – I’m not a bookworm, just a quoteworm. 🙂
4. and from my never-ending passion to learn.
BTW, I just visited your Facebook. You may add me as a friend at Facebook.com/viclogic if you like.
Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your very prompt response! I am more enlightened this time. Anyways, I am also wondering if you could share a little on what really moved you to create this informative blog and how useful it is for young people to browse on business blogs even if they’re not directly involved into business and it is out of their interest to have such.
