There are times in our life when we feel like we have soaked up all the misfortunes in the entire world. These are the things that make us feel so down like we do not want to fight anymore, times when we just want to let go and give up our dreams and aspirations in life. We do not have control about everything, and yes life is difficult but we should not let any problem dishearten us. Instead, we must take it as a challenge so we would be motivated to give more than what expected from us. If you are struggling with pressures and stresses from work, and you feel like quitting on your dream, here are 10 ways for you to come back stronger, more inspired, and more motivated to work.
1. Believe in the power of positivity
Do you believe in the saying that what you send out to the universe will reflect back to you? Believe that something great will happen and it will happen, of course you have to do something to make it happen too. The idea is you have to think positive at what you are doing. You must believe in yourself that what you are doing will eventually benefit you and the company so you would be more motivated with that project. One approach you can try is to fill your mind with the positive things to keep you motivated. You must also remind yourself that you have the capability to meet your goals.
2. Surround yourself with positive people
If you surround yourself with positive people, their positive energy will also fill you with positive vibe which will reflect in your attitude towards your work. Being with negative ones will only influence your mind with negative thoughts which will pull your focus away from what you are doing and in the end you will most probably fail because you were not paying attention with every detail of the project.
3. Stop Worrying
More than 90% of the things we worry about don’t actually happen so do not waste your energy on worrying about things that might not even happen. What will be, will be, so instead of worrying, think of how you would handle things if the worse gets worst. Never try to control things you have no control over because it will only stress you.
4. Accept change
Know that change is constant. You should not hold on to what you already have. Sometimes you have to accept that what you want isn’t what you need. The more you fight changes in your life, the harder you see the positive side of what is happening. Stop fighting change because it is inevitable. Rather, use your energy in accepting change. May it be a good or bad change for you, the sooner you accept it the easier it gets for you. Never swim against the current, you will just exhaust yourself.
5. Don’t be too proud
Aside from the fact that pride is a sin, you will not be able to make a good working relationship with your co-workers. No one is perfect, people make mistakes, and it just depends on how a person deal with their mistakes that defines them. Don’t be too proud, accept your mistakes, take the responsibility of owning it and know that there would be consequences of your action. We all have shortcomings but just because you made a mistake does not mean that you would lose your interest in correcting it. You should make your failure as your motivation to do better next time.
6. Be grateful
I have once heard someone say that people who have less are more grateful of what they receive. No matter how small grace we receive, we should always be grateful for it. Even if you think you deserve a higher rate than what you are currently receiving, you should make that a reason to lay low and slack around. Instead, show your boss a better you so that they would notice how good you are, and if it happens, they would give you what you wanted without asking for it.
7. Listen to constructive criticism
Nobody is perfect, especially in the workplace. Even your boss who’s more experienced and expert is not perfect. If you make a mistake with your work, and someone tried to correct you, do not get mad at that person. You should be thankful to that person for telling you where you need to improve yourself. Take note of his or her observation and take it as a challenge to correct yourself for your future success.
8. Learn from others’ mistake
Learning is not confined within the four walls of a classroom, my teacher once said. You should make everyday life a learning experience. Be observant of your surroundings, look at the common mistakes people make and try to avoid it. Erasing a proven wrong tactic is another step ahead to doing what is right. Just because other people failed does not mean that it is impossible, you just have to try a different approach.
9. Commit yourself
If you are committed to your job, you will be more motivated to finish all your task. Commitment should be your driving force to get a job or work well done.
10. Always bring a picture of your loved ones with you
Our family is the reason we want to succeed in life. Always bring a picture of your loved ones with you as a constant reminder of the reason you are working. Most people are more motivated at work because they are inspired to work. Just make sure that you put your family picture in a place where it will not be interfering to your work, co-workers, and customers.
All the things I mentioned above are just suggestions on how to encourage you to be more motivated at work but you also have to remember that no matter what, it’s only you who can finally motivate yourself to be a better worker.
