We can see the lion and the dragon dance on the street bringing good luck and prosperity to every doorstep, especially on business establishments. We can also hear the deafening sound of firecrackers and see the spectacular light display of the fireworks which are believed to drive away bad spirits, negative energy and bad luck. The festival is considered one of the most important events for the Chinese community and culture anywhere in the world. Several countries, aside from China, have also declared this special day a non-working holiday.
