5 Reasons Why Business Success Can’t be Done Overnight

October 6, 2014 Vic Leave a Comment

Believing in a business myth can have a negative impact in your business. A false belief can shape your business as well as your life into something that you won’t like. Hence, before you set your mind and embrace a principle you will follow in doing business, make sure you’ll be following the right thing. The premise “business success can be done overnight” is one of the ideas you should be doubtful of. It’s one of the business myths you should debunk to set yourself and your business to the right direction. Here are 5 reasons why you shouldn’t be following that notion.

1. It takes time to know your customers

Customers are the bloodline of your business. To be able to sell your products to customers, you have to understand what they want and need. And that process can’t be done overnight. Moreover, business success needs effective marketing strategies and tactics that involve targeting the right customers and providing them with the right products. Apparently, these steps can’t be accomplished overnight.

2. It takes more time to build good relationship with customers

You will probably attract customers who will provide you the volume of sales and amount of profit that you wish. But keeping them for a long time is a different story. Convincing customers to do business with you takes time. Making them loyal customers takes more time. Obviously, building trust or earning the confidence of your customers isn’t done overnight. It takes a lot of time, patience, and dedication.

3. You can’t beat all your competitors overnight

You’re lucky if you only have a few competitors. But even with few smaller competitors, you can’t still beat them all overnight. It takes effective planning, spying, timing and using the right resources to win your competition. All of these procedures need plenty of time to be accomplished. You also need a business coach or mentor who will train you and hone you to become a champion business person. And again, it takes a lot of time.

4. If beating your competitors is hard, overcoming yourself is even harder

Personal development plays a vital role in getting business success. Your business growth also depends on your personal growth. You should develop hard work, patience, persistence, honesty, self-control and other personal traits to ensure that your business will be on the right track to success. Without a doubt, self-development is not an easy task and it can’t be achieved overnight.

5. Even luck needs hard work, patience and practice to bring you success

You might be thinking that overnight success can be attained through luck. But the reality is we get lucky if we do more practice. The more we practice and get experience, the luckier can we get. Remember that business success is a result of consistent actions, and only the hardworking, patient and persistent entrepreneurs actually achieve it.

Business success can be achieved on a final night or day, but not on a single night, day or moment. Just like boxing, a single punch can make a boxer a champion, but it doesn’t actually his one punch that can make him win. His success will be attributable to his hard work in training, to his coach, to his focus, to his self-control, to his patience to wait the right timing to throw that single punch, and to everything that will contribute to his victory. The winning moment is only the last touch that makes everyone successful.

Therefore, don’t think that business success can be done overnight. Don’t rush! Be patient and be persistent. Come up with a long-term plan. Create brilliant strategies and tactics. Know your competitors. Understand your customers. Find the right team. And most importantly, don’t forget to continue developing yourself to grow your business.
