7 Things You Must Do Before the World Ends

The clock is ticking and a few days from now, year 2012 is here. 2012 is a year full of expectations. Aside from the London Olympics and the US presidential election, the world is anticipating the December 21, 2012 doomsday prediction. Will the world ends next year? Will you quit your good job sooner? Will you stop doing business and serving customers at the last quarter of this coming year? Would you sell all your assets and properties and enjoy the money proceeds in your final days? Well, I don’t think it that way. Besides, no human in this planet really know the exact date to our fate. So even tomorrow can be the day that our world will come to its conclusion.

I’ve decided to write this article to share a piece of light in these times where darkness and confusion are all over the corner. I find it alarming when I tried to search the term “things to do before the world ends” in the search engines. They actually presented me some links to stories that tell some not-so-sensible things to accomplish before the end of the world, such as doing some crime, enjoying your final meal and trying to launch your full hatred to someone. I’m just hoping that this blog post will also appear on the search engines and even in the social networking sites to counter those stories. So if committing a crime, indulging your last meal and irking someone aren’t the types of activities you want to carry out before the doomsday, here are 7 things to do before the end of the world.

 

1. Be humble

Why you should be humble? Humility has many advantages that you can use in your preparation for the end of the world. A humble person wins a lot of friends who can help him anytime. Humility makes a person realize and admit that he needs to learn more knowledge and wisdom, such as finding the true faith and finding answers on questions about life after death. Knowledge and wisdom are very important weapons anyone can use in any crisis. Furthermore, a humble person is easy to forgive than a person full of pride. Thus, if you’re alone, lacking the power of knowledge, and is a sinner, humility is your first step to find companions, to learn the truth, to forgive your trespassers, and to be forgiven by the One above.

How to be humble? Humility is hard to achieve, especially when you are used to be proud. The truth is… humility is only attained by great persons. Riches, intelligence and power cannot guarantee humility, but they can even lead anyone to pride, which can be a cause of sinning. Humility is achieved when there is greatness and responsibility, and these two should be combined. Greatness is the ability to make big sacrifices, while responsibility is the ability to follow what is right. For example, if you’re a leader, and if you want to be a humble one, you should know how to make big sacrifices just to follow what is right, such as sacrificing your own credit and pleasure just to bring your people into the right path.

 

2. Forgive those who sin against you

Why you should be forgiving? The reason is a simple role of reciprocity, that is, to do what you want others to do to you. If you will be forgiving, people will also forgive you if you have sinned against them. If you show mercy, people will also show mercy to you. Forgiveness eradicates hatred and vengeance inside you, which are both burdens that will make your life heavy and bitter. And the best thing that could happen to a forgiving and a merciful person is… God also show forgiveness and mercy to him. Earning God’s mercy is very important especially at the Judgment Day. So think about that.

How to forgive someone? Did someone hurt you? So how painful is it? If someone hurts you, be it your boss, your client, your subordinate, your friend or anyone else, just think that anything that can hurt you can make you stronger. The secret to forgiving a person is to learn from your mistake and the mistake of that person. Through learning lessons you become stronger. And when you feel stronger, it will be easy for you to forgive those who sin against you. Hence, don’t waste time on hating and thinking how to get revenge. Instead, focus on learning new things and in developing yourself.  So if your boss hurts you, don’t jump to anger, rather, go for learning and making yourself a stronger worker.

 

3. Find higher wisdom

Why should you find more wisdom? If knowledge is power, then wisdom is the ability to use that power the right way. Wisdom is calling out people from almost everywhere. Preachers and teachers are sharing them anywhere. Log in to your Facebook and you will see quotes and statuses filled with wisdom. But not all wisdom are the same. That is why you need to find the truest and highest wisdom that can help you at the end of the world. If you will only stick to that flowery wisdom of yours now, you might end up in tragedy sooner or later. You need to possess the right wisdom in any crisis, whether in a war between nations or in a war between good and evil.

How to find the right wisdom? Wisdom comes from the realization of your knowledge. Hence, to have more realization, you should find more knowledge. Open your mind and heart to new learning to add up things that you know. After you gather more raw knowledge, it’s time to judge which are right and which are wrong. The more knowledge you have the more you can determine that best knowledge. Now, in finding the right wisdom that can stand even at the end of time, don’t be fooled by flowery and eloquent words and speeches, instead, look for powers behind those words. The true wisdom isn’t actually sweet to hear, rather, it sounds like patience, suffering and sacrifice. This is also the reason why many people don’t get true wisdom, because they escape it and instead pursue false wisdom that gives them easier ways. Thus, learn how to be patient, diligent and persistent in attaining the right wisdom.

 

4. Get understanding and insight

Why get understanding and insight? It’s because wisdom is not enough. Wisdom is only the ability to judge or discern what is right from what is wrong. In other words, it will only give you the right choice or decision. But still you need to do that decision, as well as do it consistently. In that case, you need to gain understanding and insight. Understanding is achieved when you actually practice what you choose, while insight is attained when you practice it consistently enough to ascertain your future. So if you want to have confidence at the end of the world, don’t just get wisdom, but also get understanding and insight. If you want to understand love, do it and make it your daily habit until you realize that your life is complete. Love actually gives a person confidence at his death or at the end of times.

How to gain understanding and insight? It’s actually a step by step process. First, you humble and admit that you need to find more knowledge. And after gathering knowledge, you process it to realize wisdom. After you attain wisdom and make the right choices, you should practice it to gain understanding. Now, if you want to have insight, you need to practice it constantly until you can be prepared and assured of the things that will happen in the future.

 

5. Justify your faith

Why should you justify your faith? You don’t want to live and rely with a false faith, do you? No one knows everything. That is why everyone has their own faith. Even God is not sure about our free will. That is why He remains faithful to us. Faith is found in anyone. Whether you believe in God or not, you have your own faith. Believers are faithful to God. On the other hand, atheists are faithful to their belief that God doesn’t exist. Scientists are also faithful to their theories and hypotheses. Now, the question is whose faith is right and whose belief will stand against time? Thus, whether you’re a Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, an Agnostic or an Atheist, you must justify your faith to ensure that you will survive when the world ends.

How to justify your faith? To justify your faith remember the following two criteria: the roots and the fruits. Faith is like a young tree, we don’t directly see its roots and we don’t immediately see its fruits. If you want to assure that your faith now is the right faith, then you should dig deeper to find its roots and origin. Do you think your faith now can save you? If you want to know, then make a research and check where that faith originated. Did it originate from a good root or from a bad root? Did it come from a lie or from the truth? Did it spread through bloody invasions or through teaching of peace? After finding the root, you should also determine the fruits. Is that faith of yours bearing you good things or bad manifestations? Is that faith makes you a more disciplined, peaceful, productive, happy and a righteous person or it makes you hateful, idle, miserable and a wicked person? You should start justifying your faith now.

 

6. Save the others

Why should you save other people? We all have loved ones. Even the cruelest persons in this world have their own loved ones. We are not just sure what kind of love is that, but no one can really survive alone. Thus, we ought to take people with us. However, what really should drive us to help other people is that “it is the right thing to do”. Helping is an action that can give us both happiness and fulfillment. Besides, if you help others, they will also help you in return. Kindness will provide you a lot of friends, and God also helps a person who helps His people.

How to save other people? There are many ways which we can help and save other people, including our friends, family and loved ones. Sharing them with a light to guide them in finding the truth is one simple way you can do to save people. 7. Wear the full armor of God

Why should you wear the full Armor of God? The end of the world is a terrible event that could happen. Imagine blood and chaos everywhere and there’s no place to hide. Even the largest temples and church buildings will fall. Thus, you need powerful weaponry and shield to survive. The Armor of God is a Christian faith, but I know that other spiritual groups have their own version of it. The Armor of God will give us confidence anytime and anywhere, whether the world will end sooner or later. Hence, there’s no reason why you should not try to wear it.

What is the Armor of God and how to wear it? The Armor of God is described in the book of Ephesians in the Holy Bible. It is not a literal armor like steel, but it is a spiritual armor that is even more powerful than any metal on Earth. The full Armor of God includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Now on the question how to wear it, you can consider it wearing like the literal armor. In other words, you should always carry them all as parts of yourself.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
