You want to start blogging? Well, start it now and make your start a great one because the blogging industry is now such a crowded and a very competitive industry. Even in the starting point of your blogging journey, you should already stand out from the crowd. And even if you’re just a newbie, you should already start it like a pro. You can follow and learn from the footsteps of the professional bloggers. You don’t need to start it easy and ugly, but you should start it as if you are entering in a world of no return. Remember that a good start can give you a better and more accelerated chance to get real success. And to guide you on that, here are 7 tips to make your blog already successful even at the beginning.
1. Get your own domain name
Don’t make having your own domain name a dream. Stop dreaming, wakeup, and move your feet! Getting your dotcom domain only costs around $10 a year. It’s even cheaper than a dozen of cheeseburgers. If you don’t have a credit card to purchase online, then get a Paypal account and a debit card. Do you want to succeed? Don’t be effortless.
2. Write comprehensive posts
You are just starting. So don’t take it easy, but take hard work and patience. Every successful blogger has sacrificed a lot during their startup. Creating comprehensive and high quality contents is a must during the early state of blogging. This is because they will serve as the foundation and building blocks of your blog. If you want to be indexed deeply by the search engines, like Google, then you should not skip this step. Also, mix it up with some search engine optimization techniques like what I discussed here. Don’t complain. I did write a lot of 1,000+word articles to ensure the strong foundation of this blog. It’s very difficult, but guess what? I was not hospitalized when I was doing it. Instead, it honed my research and writing skills.
3. Be complete
Construct and build your blog completely. Complete your essential pages, such as your about page, privacy policy page, and other pages that will make your blog more professional. Get a logo and tagline to promote your brand. Put the important widgets (e.g., recent posts, top posts, etc.,) on your sidebar. Place all the vital buttons (e.g., social bookmarks) and add-ons on your blog. If you want to sail across the ocean, make sure that your ship is completely built.
4. Be permanent and consistent
Make long-term goals. If you want to have a successful blog, don’t make your blog like something you’ve built temporarily. Build it to last. Have a mission, vision and core values for your blog, and then adhere to them consistently.
5. Make friends with other bloggers
Bloggers are the people who will understand you more when it comes to blogging. They are the ones who will think what you think and feel what you feel. No one will understand a blogger more than a blogger. Also, no one knows everything. Even I, who’s already blogging for more than six years, still can learn from bloggers who have just started in less than a month. The point here is that your blogger friends are the ones who will provide you the most relevant and significant lessons you need to succeed in blogging.
6. Once again, follow your passion
Okay, finding your passion is a common advice for success. However, I still see a lot of bloggers who are blogging on topics they even don’t know. The reason is that they are following money, instead of passion. They are following what’s hot, rather than creating heat within themselves. The secret to success is not to follow money, but to create something that money will follow. The key to success is not to follow what’s hot, but to create heat within you. So feel your passion. I know you can feel it. Make that feeling a burning desire. Once you’ve created a momentum, great results will come. Traffic, profit, popularity, they will all just follow you.
7. Don’t start blogging if you can’t win the competition
Don’t just blog to enjoy, but do your blogging to face the hardships and win the competition. Start a blog because you believe and you know that you can build a blog that will become one of the best in your niche or category, in your country, or even in the world. This is the reason why you need to blog your passion and expertise. This is also the reason why you need to study your competition and determine if you have what it takes to beat your competitors. And this is also the reason why you shouldn’t just make it easy, but you should be patient and diligent in developing yourself as a blogger, as well as a person who have the skills and qualities to be on the top.
I hope those blogging tips I’ve shared will help you start a more successful blog. These tips aren’t only for starters, but they are also intended to aid established blogs who want to gain more and more success on blogging.
