Business Entrepreneurs at the End of the World

March 23, 2011 Vic Leave a Comment

We’ve just finished discussing “How to prepare for the end of the world now”, and I still want to continue further in this very intriguing topic. As you know, business persons and entrepreneurs are working hard to build their companies and organizations. It’s so exciting and fulfilling to see how our businesses will grow in the future. But with the current news of disastrous earthquakes, killer tsunami, nuclear reactor explosion and war between countries, our business excitement has somehow been replaced by business panic. It’s considerable since financial profit and high volume of business assets are futile when human life is gone. I write this article to share my insights on how will business persons and entrepreneurs do business without having fear of the highest business risk ever – the end of the world.

How to do business for last

Money is not the root of all evil, and if business is about making money, it doesn’t mean it should befriend evil. Business is for prosperity, for joy and for discipline. If you want to do business without fearing death and the end of the world, you should do business in the spiritual sense. What does spiritual business means? It means doing business with the intent of nourishing your spirit and inner self. It involves possessing all the virtues and characteristics that can give you both personal and spiritual growth. It includes having self-control, gentleness, wisdom, compassion, diligence, peacefulness and love, which all we need to have personal and spiritual development. Eventually, you will learn and understand that all of those great virtues are not meant to make you poor or keep you away from real and lasting profits.

Doing business for lasting profit

Business should be done to make profit. But profit doesn’t purely mean money or anything that has an economic value. There are profits that can be used even after the end of time. We will try to uncover those unseen things as we progress.

An entrepreneur can be a business owner, manager, marketer or employer. As a business owner, you can be helpful and compassionate to provide products or services that can make people happy and live better. As a manager, you can be a leader that can motivate and inspire your subordinates to develop themselves professionally, personally and spiritually. As a marketer, you can educate, teach and provide information to customers to improve their lives. Moreover, as an employer, you can make your employees leaders of themselves. Doing business is all about helping, sharing, improving people’s lives and giving glory to God. It is providing greatness for yourself and securing your soul and eternal life.

Can business and spirituality work effectively together?

Yes they can. Do unethical business persons succeed in the long run? No they don’t. What are the secrets of the most successful companies in the world? Their secrets are high quality, good corporate social responsibility, integrity and other things that are built for last. Integrity, trustworthy and the ability to help the society, these things are economically immeasurable. These things are spiritual things, and they keep businesses and companies attract consistent and enduring profits. These profits are things that last forever.

The profits that last forever

Are there really profits that last forever? Yes there are, and these are the kinds of things that we should strive to achieve while doing business now. Alas, most business people ignore these profits in exchange for instant earnings they can attain in a short period of time. The sad reality is that many business owners are hasty, impatient, selfish and even too greedy. They don’t realize that they are only trying to harvest temporary profits. They want to grow like grasses, instead of trees. Grasses grow rapidly, while trees grow slowly. But don’t they know that grasses die quickly, while trees live for thousands of years?

Why deceive customers with a product that is poor in quality just to double your sales today? Will that product still sells tomorrow? Why evade the government taxes if it will make you a liar in paper and in spirit? Why don’t you give due benefits to your workers and employees just to minimize your cost of services? Will it not affect your organizational productivity, and more importantly, your relationship with the people who spend the most time of their lives in your workplace?

Understanding, peacefulness, joy, self-control and love, these are some of the eternal profits you can earn from doing what is right and what is according to your clear conscience. And the great news is, lasting prosperity and business success follow them. You don’t need to worry about your business when the end of the world comes. You don’t need to panic if you are building it to last forever. You never need to fear the end of the world if your business is giving you immortality through personal and spiritual development and by developing others.
