How to make money online in the Philippines? How can a Filipino earn cash using the Internet? You have probably heard of many Filipinos who are making money online right now. Some of them are even earning significantly more than what you receive from your exhausting job under employment. Yes they can be true. You can really make money online, whether you’re an American, Filipino or whatever nationality you belong, as long as you have the power to connect to the Internet and follow the right steps and processes.
The world has become flat because of online networking. Moreover, many doors and WINDOWS have opened for anyone to grab the opportunities to participate in the business and marketing competition that is happening in the online world. Small businesses can now compete with the giant companies when it comes to online advertising using the power of search engines and social media. And to make it more beneficial to all, the ordinary people can now become solopreneurs (solo entrepreneurs), utilizing the Internet to make profit online.
Well, there are many ways to make money online, and for different people, there can be different roadmap to reach that. But if I’ll be the one to ask, the following are the steps to earn wealth from the Internet:
Make a blog
You don’t need to become an expert website designer or developer to create a simple and a user-friendly blog. But here, you need to invest a little amount of money. This is for your own domain name and your web hosting. A top level domain name, such as .com, .net and .org only cost Php500.00 per year of registration. Web hosting fee for a starter can cost around Php300.00 per month. So for the initial 6-month period of your blogging, you need an investment of Php2,300. If you are passionate and diligent enough, you can already earn and compensate that cost within that period. Other bloggers can already earn as quick as after 3 months with proper systems and techniques.
To register your domain name you can visit either GoDaddy or Namecheap, two of the top domain registrars for top level domains. There, you can check your desired name and register it if still available. For web hosting, you can check out Hostgator. Online purchase needs credit card, debit card or Paypal account. If you don’t have a credit card, you can apply a debit card or EON card at Unionbank. You can also get a free account at Paypal, where you can integrate your EON card.
Once you got your domain name and have it hosted in your hosting account, you can already create your blog. Blogs are kinds of websites that publish regular contents, such are articles, images, podcasts and videos. They can also be created easily using free Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress. Installing WordPress can be done through your web host’s CPANEL in minutes.
Optimize it
Once you have installed your WordPress blog and select your desired theme, you can already start to optimize it as early as that point. Your optimization begins by choosing the best title, description, tags and keywords for your blog. Be sure to choose a niche or targeted readers in which you know you are passionate of and can provide what’s best. Your next step is to create targeted keyword contents. Informative contents, such as articles are always searched by people and they are also loved by Google as long as they are unique and useful.
Create unique and useful contents
Your process of optimization will continue and go along with the creation of your contents. This involves targeting the titles, descriptions, tags and keywords of your every post. Optimization can be Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Optimization or other forms of online and offline marketing techniques. SEO targets searchers in Google, Yahoo, Bing and other major search engines. On the other hand, SMO targets users of social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
A blogger’s products are his blog posts. His customers or consumers are his readers and visitors. Thus, you need to provide quality and useful blog posts to satisfy your readers and visitors. Making money out of blogging is not just making money instantly. It is a process of putting hard work and passion to provide helpful information to your visitors. A successful blogger earns lasting income through helping and satisfying his blog’s users.
By choosing the right and enthusiastic topic for which your blog will be all about, you can earn a momentum to create contents fast. Don’t choose a topic just because it is popular, but choose a topic where you know you can be successful and dominate it.
A starter blogger should publish post as many as he can without destroying quality and usability. Two post a day will give you about 200-300 posts in 5 months. If you are really a fast writer that can write 4 posts a day, then you can have around 200 posts in 2 months. A blog that has at least 200 high quality, keyword-targeted, search engine indexed posts can already attract decent number of visitors – enough to give you opportunity to earn money and cover your cost of blogging. If you think 4 posts a day is too difficult to accomplish, you should not think that way. I tell you that many successful bloggers can even make 10-20 posts a day. Just google the very popular PerezHilton blog.
Frequency in posting is considered vital when you’re just in the early stage of your blogging journey. But once your blog has already established constant traffic and your web pages are already highly indexed in Google searches, you can already publish posts thrice or even once a week. Well-established bloggers who are already enjoying constant traffic can already work as convenient as one hour a day.
Monetizing your blog
Blog monetization is where you harvest the fruits of your labor after your hard work in establishing and developing your blog. This is also the process where you convert your traffic to profit. There are many ways to monetize your blog. You just need to experiment what suits you best. The following are some proven monetization schemes you can do to your blog to make money online.
1. PPC advertising. Pay Per Click Advertising, such as Google Adsense, Chitika and other PPC advertising companies.
2. Private Advertising. Renting your webpage space to relevant companies and individuals who want to advertise their products or website on your blog.
3. Affiliate marketing. Selling products of other companies or individuals in your blog. You earn through commission per lead sale. You can check out Amazon, Clickbank, E-junkie and Commission Junction.
4. Selling your own products. You can directly sell your own products if you have. If you are a good writer and expert in your niche, you can write an Ebook and sell it as your own product.
5. Selling your own services. If you are a web designer, interpreter, writer, graphic designer or a coach, you can offer your services to your visitors.
6. Membership fees. You can create a membership site out of your blog, where you can charge for membership fees monthly or annually. Here, you should provide useful contents or information where your members can access privately.
7. Surveys. You can also ask your visitors to do answer surveys and earn from it. Check out CPAlead.
At this point, I hope you have obtained an idea on how you can make money online. I also hope that a window has opened for you to see the many opportunities online. Finally, remember that there is also business online, and in every business, you got to start it the right way. This is only the beginning.

Vic, there is also a new way for Filipinos to make money online, it is not listed here so allow me to share my experience. I am now using my computer and my cellphone to generate extra cash by selling prepaid loads to any network. The earning potential is huge, and I am very positive about it. I am now on my way to get my first million. The process is very simple, I am using the internet to endorse this business to others, and I also use the internet to do the loading. If I am away from my computer, I can always use my cell phone to do the same activities.
Thanks Romel for the additional information. That’s great for Filipinos. The information can be found in your name’s link. 🙂
Hi Vic, great article!
I really picked up lots of useful insights from your article.
This will really greatly help our kababayans get started on internet marketing.
I tried doing affiliate marketing in the past but had no luck. Well, I am to blame, I guess. I should have put a lot more effort into it.
Anyway, I just want to share that another way to make money online is through investing in Philippine Stock Market. Sounds scary but once you have the right mentor and information, you have nothing to be afraid of. There are risks but they are calculated. There are always risks in business, online or “offline”, anyway.
I started last August 2012 and I’m so glad I did. I did not hesitate to do so because my mentor is no less than Bro. Bo Sanchez. In fact, I just hit 30+% growth in my investment recently. Nowhere near million (yet) like Romel but I’m getting there.
I believe this is a great option, too.
Check out the link on my name.
