Whether you’re a businessman, a career person, a public servant, or someone who’s just living a simple life, there is that desire in your mind to shine and earn respect from the people around you. As an entrepreneur, you might wish that your product will draw great attention and get wide recognition. As an employee or professional, you may want your talents and skills to be noticed to earn promotion. As a public servant, you may want to earn trust and confidence from the public. Whatever you do in life, you have to shine and be appreciated by everyone. The following are 5 ways to make yourself and your life shine.
#1 Focus where you’re really great at
Concentrate your time and energy on something that you can really do best – something that you can come up with the best result or the work of a genius. It doesn’t need to be trendy or popular, but it needs to be something that is unique and special.
Many people don’t emerge on top because they are only choosing the work that is hot right now or that will give them better income opportunity even though they are not good at it. This kind of habit only makes them poor performers instead of making them best workers.
To shine, you’ve got to find your passion – you’ve got to find a work for life. You have to know yourself to develop your true talent to the fullest. Even if your work is not in the popular category, if you can do it best among the best, you will shine and will make yourself popular. You may even become the reason to bringing that category into popularity.
So don’t just look up at the star, but be a star. Don’t jump on the bandwagon, but create your own bandwagon… where you can stand on your own.
#2 Polish yourself consistently
How do we make things shine – your shoes, nails, and other things? It is by polishing, isn’t it? And like those things, you also have to polish yourself to shine. By polishing we mean honing your skills and talents to constantly keep you sharp and shining.
That is why procrastinators and uninterested people don’t shine. That is why lazy people don’t stand out from the crowd. Procrastination, laziness, lack of enthusiasm, and the like are things which make you rusty. Therefore, be diligent and persistent in training and developing yourself on your chosen passion to get rid of rust and to keep yourself shiny.
#3 Help and serve people
If you will make people’s eyes shine, then you can also make yourself shine. Use your resources, economic or personal, to make people happy by helping them. If you are knowledgeable, you can share your knowledge. If you are rich and wealthy, then you can try sharing your financial blessings to the needy people. If you’re a business person or entrepreneur, you can simply perform your social responsibility with sincerity.
If you will help people with a cheerful heart, you will earn a lot of respect and admiration from them. They will be inspired by you. Those respect, gratefulness and inspiration from people will make you shine.
#4 Be humble and pure
In order to be shiny and bright, you have to see yourself on the top. But raising yourself should not be done by you. You should let the people raise you up. And how you can do that? You can do that by uplifting first these people’s lives. In other words, you should not be boastful and proud – this will only destroy your reputation. But instead be humble and keep on serving people so that they will be the ones to put you on the top. Isn’t a lamp shines bright when placed on the ceiling instead on the floor of your house?
You should also be pure. If you really want to shine, you should shine for others and not only for yourself. Most people who really shine great are the ones who don’t want to shine in the first place, but only wanted to help people and make our world a better place to live.
#5 Wait and achieve timing
Finally if you want to shine, you should learn how to wait. Discovering your true passion and special talents takes time, and polishing them even takes longer. Moreover, helping and inspiring people takes not only time, but even takes a significant part of your life. Thus, you really have to be patient. You should learn how to keep on waiting – just like waiting for a very long night until the sun shines.
Timing is very important because we can’t shine all the time. Even the stars don’t always shine on us. Therefore, don’t be too hasty. As long as you’re doing what you really love, constantly improving your special talent, helping people out, inspiring people, and staying patient… your time to shine will surely come.
