Think about the most popular ecommerce site? Is it ecommerce.com? No, it’s Amazon.com. You can also consider Taobao.com and eBay.com.
Now, what can you learn from all of these?
As you can see, most of the successful and largest online businesses or websites in the world came up with a unique, creative, short, and easy to remember domain names. You can choose a name which is not even a proper word like Google or Yahoo.
Remember that your brand should not depend on your name, but it’s your name that will depend on your brand. You don’t need to rely on popular, common or generic words to succeed in Internet marketing. You can create a very successful brand out of a very unpopular name because it’s you and your business who will build your name, and not your name who will build your business.
