Is being late your consistent problem even since you were in grade school? If you do not mind it at all since you are already used to it, then that is really a problem. Meaning, you do not have a sense of time anymore. However, if you are being rebuked by your inner voice—or by your boss—about it and you are burdened, then you still have hope. It means you still want to change.
No matter how skilled or intelligent you are as an employee, or employer, if you are always late, it will still reflect on your performance record. Being on time is one indication of how responsible a person is. If you want to show your office or company that you are organized and professional then they have to see that you can manage your own time. How can they expect you to manage your tasks when you cannot even hold your time? Nevertheless, tardiness is an indication of negligence.
Maybe you would justify by saying that you are always late because the traffic is always heavy. Well, the solution to that is simple—wake up and leave your house earlier. Or maybe you would reason out that it is impossible on your part to wake up early because you sleep late due to some chores or office works to be finished. The answer to that? Set a specific time for sleep and do your best to get done with your workload early to meet that sched. In short, it is just about how you adjust your time.
Aside that it reflects poor work ethic, tardiness is not a good way to begin your day with. I do not know if you would agree, but starting your morning right makes the rest of the day more fulfilling. If your goal is to make your day perfect or excellent, being late for work destroys that goal right at the beginning. What else, once you are already late, you become more prone to stress because of cramming and sermons from your manager. Therefore, if you do not want to be late anymore and you want your day to flow right, you need to start it the right way.
How to have a good morning
Here are some tips on how you can have a good morning:
The way to begin your day right starts at night before you go to sleep. That is why we will begin there.
1. Prepare for tomorrow
So that you will not cram in the morning anymore, even if you wake up a little bit late, it is better to prepare everything you need for tomorrow. At night, you should ready your outfit or uniform, shoes, and all you need to bring or prepare for the next day. If possible, you must prepare your breakfast also so that you would not cook when you wake up anymore. This way, you can leave your home faster.
2. Plan out for the day
Before you go to sleep, you can write down your plans and schedule for the next day on your organizer. This will serve as your programme or guide so that you can observe your time and calmly accommodate all your appointments for the day.
3. Sleep early
Why you need to sleep early? Aside from waking up early the next day, sleeping early means more time of rest. The more rest you get, the better your disposition for the next day will be. With enough sleep, you will not get cranky, irritable, and sleepy. You will instead be more alert, alive, and enthusiastic—meaning all positive. Moreover, you will have no hard time opening your eyes.
How to start your day the right way
Once you are already prepared for the morning and you get enough rest at night, shaking your morning up would be a lesser hassle since all you got to think about is how to reach your office on time. Here are the things you should do upon waking up:
1. Wake up early and on time
How can you say that you wake up early? Well, it should be early enough to allow you to do everything you need to do that morning without being panicky. To do this, first you should list down all that you must do during mornings. Then, you must estimate how much time you should allot for each of them. Through this, you can determine the exact time you should wake up.
Next, waking up on time means once you hear your alarm clock sing—or scream—you must not turn it off then go back to sleep. No matter how beautiful your dream was, you must get up already. Remember, every ticking second counts.
2. Have a devotion
This is the most important way to start your day right. If you believe God is your lord and that He created you, then be grateful enough to give him the first spot of your day. Having a devotion or Quiet Time allows you to acknowledge God’s sovereignty in your life, thank Him for still waking up, and get guidance for the day. You must know that the Bible was not just created to scare the devils off or serve as the preacher’s manuscript for his sermons, but it is our life’s manual. Everything to make your life in order and successful is in there… so read it everyday.
3. Get some exercise
According to research, exercise makes your body produce more oxygen. With enough oxygen running through your blood vessels and into your brain, you become more energetic and have good concentration and thinking capacity. Therefore, have a daily exercise even just for 20 minutes to ensure health and better function throughout the day.
4. Eat breakfast
Remember that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is because after how many hours of sleep, your dinner has been digested already. Therefore, you need to eat well in the morning to replenish your energy. What is more, you cannot move, think, or work well once you are hungry right? Therefore, be sure to eat your breakfast.
5. Move fast
No matter how you wake up very early if you move slowly then you will still be late. Get rid of that mindset “I still have 30/20/5 minutes”, because it tempts you to linger on something for a while. Again, every ticking second counts. Since you have already budgeted your time for the morning, aim and do your best to stick to the time allotted for each morning activity to achieve more productivity.
6. Be 30 minutes early
As the saying goes, “If you plan to be on time you will be late, but if you plan to be early you will be on time. “ Therefore, always make it a goal to arrive at your office 30-minutes before working time starts. If you follow this, you will never be late.
To be able to make these tips work, you need discipline. It depends on you if you are determined to really start your day right. If you are, you would be willing to adjust what need to be adjusted in your morning and night routines. Beginning your day the right way is the first step of being successful.
