Top 10 Most Popular Search Terms in the Philippines

What are the most popular search terms or queries typed by Filipinos on Google search engine for 2012? Internet marketers may find it interesting to check out the most popular search keywords this year to analyze the trends. People on the Internet may also be curious to learn what the netizens searched the most this year.

Search giant Google has released its Zeitgeist reports for the year 2012 – a collection of lists of the most frequent search queries that people typed into Google search web. According to Google, the Zeitgeist this year contains lists and data analyzed from more than a trillion searches in 146 languages. It contains 838 lists covering 55 countries, including the Philippines.

The lists include the top ten most trending and most searched terms in various categories, such as searches, people, news, events, image searches, brands, songs, TV shows, Google+ Hashtags, and more.

According to Google, the “trending” queries are the searches that had the highest amount of traffic over a sustained period in 2012 as compared to 2011. On the other hand, the “most searched” queries are the most popular terms for 2012—ranked in order of the queries with the largest volume of searches.

For the Philippines, believe it or not, the term “SimSimi” (a popular artificial intelligence conversation program) was the top trending searches in the country for 2012, followed by popular games “Angry Birds” and “Tertris Battle” in second and third position, respectively.

For the top trending people in Google Philippines for 2012, NBA Phenom “Jeremy Lin” tops the list while the “iPad mini” tops the list of the top 10 trending gadgets.
