Update: On April 2011, the Forbes Magazine has issued and published its annual Global 2000 list of the world’s leading companies for 2011. San Miguel Corporation, which is now ranked at no. 901 (rank 1,566th last year) globally, is now considered the largest Philippine company according to the list, taking over the no. 1 position from PLDT. San Miguel increased it sales from $3.61 billion last year to $5.5 billion this year. From a market value of $3.5 billion reported in 2010, it significantly increased to $8.7 billion this year. Its total assets also increased from $6.98 billion last year to $19 billion this year. PLDT falls down from 1,080th to 1,297th rank in this year’s Global 2000 list. Consequently, it is now only second to San Miguel as the biggest company in the country, while SM Investments remains on the third spot. Moreover, Manila Electric Company (Meralco) joined the Global list this year, making the Philippine Companies four (4) from the only three Filipino companies which made it to the top 2000 last year. The biggest Philippine company according to Forbes Global 2000 in year 2010 is Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Company. Based on the list, PLDT is the 1,080th largest company in the world, with sales amounted to $3.29 billion, profit of $840 million and assets of $5.33 billion. The company also has a market value of $10.77 billion as of March 1, 2010. PLDT, through its main business segments – wireless, fixed line, and information and communications technology, offers the most diversified range of telecommunications services across the Philippines. The company’s current Chairman of the Board of Directors is Manuel V. Pangilinan, while its current president and CEO is Napoleon L. Nazareno.
Next to PLDT is San Miguel Corporation Philippines, who made it to the 1,566th in the list, with sales amounted to $3.61 billion, profit of $420 million, total assets of $6.98 billion and market value of $3.5 billion. The third and the last that made it to the list is SM Investments, who is the 1,707th biggest companies in the Forbes list, with sales of $2.55 billion, profit of $300 million, total assets of $6.12 billion and market value of $4.83 billion.
