Who are the Richest People in the Philippines in 2012?

Forbes Magazine has just published its newest list of billionaires on the planet. The list, which is published on March 7, 2012 included an all time high 1,226 billionaires worth a record of $4.6 trillion. Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helu, once again named as the richest person in the world with a net worth of $69 billion, a $5 billion decline from $74 billion last year.  Microsoft founder Bill Gates maintained his 2nd position, though his net worth has increased from $56 billion in 2011 to $61 billion this year. In the third place is still the Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett, whose net worth has declined from $50 billion last year to $44 billion this year.

Among the top 10 is Li Ka-shing of Hongkong, who is now considered Asia’s richest person with a net worth of $25.5 billion. Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is now the 35th wealthiest in the world with a net worth of $17.5 billion. Last year, Zuckerberg was in the top 52nd position with  a net worth of $13.5 billion.

The list, which is also considered as Forbes 25th Anniversary of tracking and compiling the world’s billionaires since 1987, included six Filipinos. The following are now considered the richest people in the Philippines as of March 2012.  Don’t forget to get your calculator to compute and convert their billion dollar worth of wealth to Philippine Pesos.

This ranking is only based on Forbes list of billionaires for 2012. This also means that there are only 6 Filipinos who were qualified and determined as billionaires according to the list. Forbes also publishes the top 40 richest Filipinos in the country, and will be soon released by them. For the meantime, here are the top 40 wealthiest people in the Philippines in 2011.
